Established in 1994, Modern Pack Lanka (Pvt) Ltd (MPL) has grown into one of the most esteemed packaging solution providers in Sri Lanka’s Thermo / Vacuum forming industry. MPL is a strategic collaboration between Modern-Pak Singapore (Pte) Ltd and key stakeholders from Ceylon Biscuits Ltd.

MPL began its commercial operations in May 1994, operating from a small rented facility in Pannipitiya with a single vacuum-forming machine and a dedicated team of four employees. Initially, the company focused on providing specialized packaging solutions for Ceylon Biscuits Ltd.
As pioneers in manufacturing biscuit trays in Sri Lanka, MPL quickly scaled its operations to meet the increasing demand from various industries. A major breakthrough came in 2004 when we secured our first significant contract to supply ice cream cups to Ceylon Cold Stores, marking a milestone in our expansion into disposable packaging solutions for large-scale corporations.
Our competitive advantage stems from our commitment to technological innovation and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. Today, our diverse client portfolio spans numerous sectors, including FMCG, Dairy, Agriculture, Poultry, Educational, Fast Food, High-Tech Industries, Tea, Bakery, Catering, and takeaway services.

In response to the rising demand within domestic industries, MPL invested in a state-of-the-art sheet extrusion line in 2005, significantly enhancing our production capacity. Currently, our packaging is used to export products to over 55 countries and is featured in leading international supermarket chains such as Walmart and Hallmark. Vacuum Forming

Vacuum forming is a cost-effective and flexible process used to produce lightweight plastic products and packaging. Heated plastic sheets are formed over a mold using vacuum pressure, resulting in accurate shapes and consistent quality. This technology is ideal for trays, blisters, protective packaging, and custom designs, offering quick turnaround times and economical tooling.

Thermoforming with Dry Offset Printing

Our thermoforming process combined with dry offset printing allows us to create visually attractive and high-performance packaging solutions. Thermoforming ensures uniform thickness and strength, while dry offset printing delivers sharp graphics, vibrant colors, and excellent brand visibility. This method is commonly used for food containers, cups, lids, and consumer packaging.

Blow Molding

Blow molding is used to manufacture hollow plastic products such as bottles and containers. This process ensures lightweight yet durable packaging with excellent structural integrity. Our blow molding solutions support various shapes and sizes, making them suitable for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications.

Injection Molding

Injection molding enables the production of high-precision plastic components with consistent quality and tight tolerances. Molten plastic is injected into molds to create strong, detailed, and repeatable products. In-Mold Labeling

In-Mold Labeling integrates high-quality printed labels directly into the molded product during the manufacturing process. The result is a premium finish with labels that are scratch-resistant, moisture-proof, and long-lasting. IML enhances brand appearance while maintaining product strength and recyclability.

Aluminum Foil and Foil Printing

We provide aluminium foil solutions with advanced printing capabilities for safe, hygienic, and high-barrier packaging. Aluminium foil offers excellent protection against moisture, light, and contamination, making it ideal for food, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods packaging. Our printing ensures clear branding and compliance with quality standards.

Cylinder packaging solutions

Our cylinder packaging solutions are designed for strength, safety, and visual appeal. Over the years, we have achieved remarkable milestones: obtaining FSSC 22000 certification, winning the CNCI Achiever Bronze Award thrice within six years, pioneering 100% recyclable packaging, winning the Prestigious WorldStar Award for converting agricultural waste into packaging in 2025 in Milano, and launching World’s first yogurt cup recycling program.
